Remote Software Installation: A Setup Checklist for Your Office PC

05 October 2026 DegitalService Team 5 min read
Remote Software Installation

New PC delivered. Now comes the dull part: Tally, the printer, the antivirus, a PDF reader, maybe AutoCAD. Four hours later, the printer still prints blank pages and nobody knows which Tally installer is the right one.

Software setup is rarely hard, but it is fiddly, and doing it in the wrong order creates problems you meet weeks later. Here is how to approach it, with or without our help.

The order matters more than people think

  1. Windows updates and drivers first. Chipset, graphics and network drivers. Installing heavy software on an out-of-date system invites errors.
  2. Security software. One antivirus only. Two compete and slow the machine.
  3. Core business software, such as Tally, accounting tools and Office.
  4. Specialised software, like AutoCAD or Adobe apps, which are large and sensitive to system state.
  5. Printers and scanners. Install the driver before connecting, in most cases.
  6. Backups and shortcuts, so people can find things.

Before you ask anyone to install remotely

A short preparation list saves a lot of back-and-forth.

  • Licences. Have your licence keys, account logins or Tally licence ready. We install software you're entitled to use; we don't supply cracked versions.
  • System requirements. AutoCAD and Adobe apps need decent RAM and storage. A 4 GB machine with a nearly full drive will frustrate everyone.
  • Internet. Large installers can be several GB. A stable connection matters.
  • Remote access. Remote tools like AnyDesk or similar need to be installed and the session code shared with us.
  • Your data. Move existing company data into a backup before any reinstallation.

How remote installation works, and how to stay safe

Remote setup means we connect to your screen with your permission, and you can watch everything we do. A few sensible habits:

  1. Be present at the start and end of the session.
  2. Share the access code only when we've arranged a session. Never give it to an unexpected caller.
  3. Close the remote tool when we're finished, and change any passwords you had to share.
  4. Ask for a short list of what was installed.

That last point is worth repeating: anyone with remote access to your PC can see what's on it, so work with people you can name and contact later.

Software we're commonly asked to set up

Tally and accounting tools

Installing the right release, setting the data path, enabling multi-user mode where needed, and loading TDL add-ons you already own.

Adobe, AutoCAD and design tools

Large installs with account sign-in. Fonts, plugins and workspace settings can be configured on request.

Antivirus, printers and drivers

Antivirus with a first scan, network printers set up so every PC can use them, and drivers for scanners and barcode devices.

Developer tools

Things like Python, Node, Git, a code editor and environment setup for a new developer machine.

Mistakes we see most often

  • Downloading installers from random "free download" sites that bundle extra programs.
  • Installing two antivirus products.
  • Putting Tally data on the Desktop, where it's easy to delete by accident.
  • Skipping printer driver cleanup, leaving old broken drivers fighting new ones.
  • Never testing a backup. Do a trial restore once.

What it costs

Our Software Installation & Setup service starts at ₹799 and is listed at one-day delivery. A single application on a clean PC is quick. A full new-office setup with several PCs and a shared printer takes more time, and we'd quote that clearly before starting. There aren't published package tiers for this service, so the price follows the amount of work agreed.

Who this is for, and who it isn't

This service helps people with a new PC, a fresh Windows install, a new employee's laptop, or one stubborn program that won't install. It's also useful when you're away from the office and a colleague needs software set up.

It isn't meant for fixing a PC that is damaged or crawling with malware. That is a repair job, and you'll get better results from our PC troubleshooting service first. Likewise, if you want software that you haven't licensed, we'll decline politely and suggest a free or paid alternative.

For busy offices, we suggest scheduling sessions outside working hours so nobody's billing is interrupted while we install and restart the machine a few times.

How we handle this at DegitalService

You tell us what needs installing and on how many PCs. We confirm what we need from you, book a remote session, install and configure everything, and check each program opens and works before we sign off. Whatever problems appear during setup, we'll explain rather than quietly work around them.

See the Software Installation & Setup page. Got a long list or a multi-PC office? Message us first. Otherwise, place an order to get started.

Frequently asked questions

Is remote installation safe?

It is when you control the session: you watch the screen, share the access code only for a booked session, and close the remote tool afterwards.

Can you install software that I haven't bought?

We install software you hold a licence for or free software. We don't provide pirated copies.

How long does a remote installation take?

A single common application can take under an hour. Big packages like AutoCAD or Adobe, or several PCs, take longer depending on your internet speed.

Can you set up a network printer for the whole office?

Yes, printers and drivers are part of what we set up. Tell us the printer model and how many PCs need access.
